BENEFIT: THE REASON FOR THE DIFFERENTIATION BETWEEN THE URINE OF THE BOY AND THE URINE OF THE GIRL

Shaykh ‘Abdullaah Al-Bukhaaree

From the most beautiful of that which has been mentioned regarding the differentiation is a statement by Imaam Ash-Shaafi’ee; a statement by Imaam Ash-Shaafi’ee which Imaam Ibn Maajah mentioned within his Sunan. The Imaam, Ibn Maajah, may Allaah have mercy upon him, mentioned it within his Sunan. (The Shaykh clarifies the spelling of his name) Maajah ماجه with a Haa’ ه Not with a Taa’ (i.e., Taa Marbootah ة) They are mistaken who write it with a Taa’. Ibn Maajah, within his Sunan, after commenting on the narration of the Hadeeth; the Hadeeth of ‘Alee which was previously indicated, (he mentioned): Abul-Yamaan Al-Misree said: “I asked Ash-Shaafi’ee about the Hadeeth.” (Meaning) this Hadeeth, “while  both of the two fluids are the same.” i.e., the urine of the boy and the urine of the girl. Meaning, how is there a differentiation? Why did he differentiate, upon him be prayers and peace, when the two urines are what? The same. Neither of them (i.e., the boy or the girl) are eating (solid foods-i.e., they are both still breastfeeding)? He said, i.e., Ash-Shaafi’ee: “This is because the urine of the boy is from water and clay and the urine of the girl is from flesh and blood.” This is like a riddle, huh? I say, it is like a riddle.

Imaam Ash-Shaafi’ee noticed from Abul-Yamaan that he didn’t understand, just like you all do not understand. So Abul-Yamaan said: “So he said to me: ‘Do you understand?’ Or he said: ‘Did you swallow it?’” He said: “I said: ‘No, I don’t understand.’” So he said to him: “When Allaah, the Exalted, created Adam…” Adam was created from what? From clay. “Hawaa was created—from what? From the rib; the short rib. So the urine of the boy came to be from water and clay and the urine of the girl came to be from flesh and blood.” Then he said to him: “(Now) do you understand?” He said: “I said ‘Yes.’” He said: “May Allaah benefit you by way of it.” Is it clear?

This is from the most closest of statements (to that which is correct) and I hope that it will be an additional benefit.
