A short reminder given from Shaykh 'Abdullaah al-Bukhaaree on the blessings which many people are heedless concerning: Good Health and Free Time.
عن عبد الله بن عباس رضي الله عنهما قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم : نعمتان مغبون فيها كثير من الناس الصحة و الفراغ ،رواه البخاري
On the authority of 'Abdullaah the son of 'Abbaas (radiyallaahu 'anhumaa) who said, the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said, "Two blessing which many of the people are heedless concerning: good health and free time".  [Collected by al-Bukhaaree]

  • Many people are heedless and have a deficiency in their intellect in relation to these two things. This is the meaning of the word مغبون used in the hadeeth.
  • The word كثير used in the hadeeth means many. We understand from this that many are those who do not utilize and thank Allaah for these blessings whilst very few are those who are thankful.
  • The two blessings which have been mentioned are explained as:
  1. الصحة - Which is to have all of the senses in tact, along with ones intellect and bodily health sound.
  1. الفراغ - Is to have extra time which is unoccupied (your free-time).
  • 'Abdullaah al-Bukhaaree mentioned that Salamah ibn Dinaar al Araj رحمه الله says concerning the hereafter that when you will be brought before the people along with your actions for them to see, you would only want them and yourself to see obedience coming from you. So that which you want the people and yourself to see on that day should be done now in this world, as this is the time to do it. Likewise, the actions which you wish to hide from the people and not want them to see from you, you should abandon in this world which are the actions of disobedience.
