Some Virtues of Aisha (may Allah be please with her)

All praise is due to Allah and may the peace and mercy be upon the messenger of Allah. To proceed:

Allah (subhanahu wa taa'la) says: (The Prophet is closer to the believers than their ownselves, and his wives are their (believers') mothers (as regards respect and marriage). The Prophet (salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam) is like a father to the believers and he brings them up just like a father brings up his own children. Therefore his wives were in the status of mothers to the believers and they should be treated like mothers, so they should be respected and it is not allowed for a man to marry them after the death of the Messenger of Allah (salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam) as was declared by Allah (subhanahu wa taa'la). (And it is not (right) for you that you should annoy Allah's Messenger, nor that you should ever marry his wives after him (his death).

Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) was one of the mothers of believers. Considering what the misguided people have been saying about her over the years, it is important to mention a few of the virtues that she has. She was accused of bad things that are not suitable for people associated with the Messenger of Allah (salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam) and it is our duty to clarify her importance to this religion. She is Aisha daughter of Abu Bakr; the believer, the daughter of the believer. She is the wife of our beloved Messenger of Allah in this world and in the hereafter. She was the most beloved to the Messenger amongst all his wives. Her nickname (Koniah) was Umm Abdillah (the mother of the slave of Allah). She was born 7 years before the immigration to Madinah and the Messenger of Allah (salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam) died and left her at the age of 18. She was born into Islam and did not live during the time of Jaheliyah (pre-Islam). She said: (I had seen my parents following Islam since I attained the age of puberty).

She is the woman who was declared innocent from above the 7 heavens. She is the only virgin whom the messenger of Allah married and he never loved a woman as much as he loved her. The Devine revelation was sent down to him many times on her bed (a feature that never happened with any of his other wives). The Angel Gabriel came down in her image and the Messenger of Allah SAW died on her bed with his head on her lap after Allah (subhanahu wa taa'la) combined their saliva on the last day of the messenger’s life (when she wetted a date for him to eat) and he was buried in her house. She is the most knowledgable woman in the Ummah in the matters of religion, as she was the teacher of the companions of the Messenger (salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam). She knew more Hadiths than any of his other wives as the Thahabi confirmed: (Musnad Aisha is 2210 Hadiths of which Al-Bukhari and Muslim agree on 174 Hadiths. Individually, Al-Bukhari refers to 54 and Muslim refers to 69)

O’ Sunni Muslim who loves the Messenger (salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam) and everyone else is a fool and Rafid. You are the one with intelligence and rationale and everyone else is not. Some of her virtues include what the Messenger of Allah said about her: (The superiority of `Aisha to other ladies is like the superiority of Tharid (i.e. meat and bread dish) to other meals). She was picked by Allah (subhanahu wa taa'la) to marry the Messenger of Allah (salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam) as she said: (Allah's Apostle said (to me), "You were shown to me in a dream. An angel brought you to me, wrapped in a piece of silken cloth, and said to me, 'This is your wife.' I removed the piece of cloth from your face, and there you were. I said to myself. 'If it is from Allah, then it will surely be).

Angel Gabriel (may Allah be pleased with him) told the Messenger (salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam): (this is your wife in this world and in the hereafter). The companions of the Messenger (salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam) knew of her status in his heart and they used to give him gifts on the days that he spends with her seeking the happiness of the Messenger (salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam).

When the mother of believers, Ummu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), asked the Prophet (salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam) to order people to give him the gifts wherever he is rather than only when he is with Aisha, he said: (Do not hurt me regarding Aisha, as the Divine Inspirations do not come to me on any of the beds except that of Aisha). His daughter Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her) asked him the same and he replied: (O my daughter! Don't you love whom I love?" She replied in the affirmative).

The messenger of Allah SAW loved her more than anyone else and he declared that in front of his companions when Amru Ibn Al-Aas asked him: (Who is the most beloved person to you?" He said, " `Aisha). From her virtues also is that the angel Gabriel sent her greetings through the Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah (salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam) used to say to her: (I know you when you are pleased with me or angry with me." …, "When you are pleased with me, you say, 'No, by the Lord of Muhammad,' but when you are angry with me, then you say, 'No, by the Lord of Abraham’). Allah (subhanahu wa taa'la) blessed her even on the last day of the life of the Messenger (salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam) when she said: (The Prophet died in my house on the day of my turn while he was leaning on my chest closer to my neck, and Allah made my saliva mix with his Saliva).

Primarily, the target of mentioning and reminding people of the virtues of our mother, the mother of the believer is the Sunni Muslims who believes in Allah and His Messenger and believes in the words of Allah (subhanahu wa taa'la). To the one who knows the sacredness of the mothers of the believers so that his faith is not affected by the talk of the Rawafid (rejectors). Whoever accuses Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) with what Allah (subhanahu wa taa'la) has already acquitted her from is a disbeliever in Allah SWT and is denying what is in the Quran and he is hurting the Messenger of Allah (salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam). This person deserves the curse of Allah and the expulsion from the mercy of Allah (subhanahu wa taa'la) and in the end the degrading punishment of Allah. Allah (subhanahu wa taa'la) says: (Verily, those who annoy Allah and His Messenger (SAW) Allah has cursed them in this world, and in the Hereafter, and has prepared for them a humiliating torment).

O’ Sunni Muslim, the virtues of your mother Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) are numerous and mentioned by the companions, their followers, the righteous leaders and pious scholars. Abu Musa Al-Ashary said: (Whenever we face a problem with an issue and ask Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, we find the she has the knowledge to deal with it). Masrouq said: (I saw the greatest of the companions of the Messenger of Allah asking her –Aisha- about the obligations and if someone was to relate a narration to her she would be mentioned in the following mannaer: ‘I was told by the believer, the daughter of the believer, the lover of the Messenegr of Allah.....’) Ataa Ibn Abi Rabah said: (Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, was the most knowledgable of people and has the best opinion amongst all the general people) Al-Zahry said: (If the knowledge of Aisha alone was compared with that of all the other mothers of believers and every other woman, her knowledge would be better). Urwa said: (I have not seen anyone who is more knowledgable in Fiqh, medicine or poetry than Aisha). Al-Thahaby said: (The Messenger SAW did not marry a virgin apart from her, and he never loved a woman like he loved her and I don’t know anyone from the people of Muhammad (salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam) or even in women in general who is more knowledgable than her.) May Allah be pleased with her and punish those who curse her or hurt her and may Allah make Jannah her final destination and where she resides forever. Indeed Allah knows best.
